She

It is fitting indeed that my first post should appear on Women's day dedicated to these beings of transcendental ability. I have often said to myself, “If he can do it, sure can I…. If she can do it, can I?”

I firmly believe that our batch has had some of the most amazing women in college; at least this is true when only considering the science section. I suppose most guys will agree with me. However they should also agree that in a setting such as the Xavier’s community a day such as 'Men’s Day' should also be observed considering the sex ratio.

I looked up the net to see if there exists any such day at all. When I typed in ‘Men’s day’ in Google I expected it to return something like:

Did you mean: women's day
No standard web pages containing all your search terms were found.

Suggestions:
Make sure all words are spelled correctly.
Try different keywords.
Try more general keywords.

However Google is not as dumb as Microsoft and I learned that it is observed only in Trinidad and Tobago on November 19. Well, I guess that with the pace with which women are making headway, soon there may not be a need for Women’s day too.

God is the greatest artist,
And the Woman, his finest creation.

Ws just reading an article on eve teasing in some newspaper today. Really sad that such things should happen.
However the average guy in Xavier's, I believe, isnt as frustrated as compared with the guy on the street... so the same situation wouldn't exist in college.
The college situation is quite different, and a person like me could end up oblivious of the ground situation with regards to:
1. Women
2. Minority Communities.

I shall learn a lot in the years ahead. Really haven't spoken much with others on these, therefore i stick to 'I' and 'me.'

@ sagar- oh no sagar! not at all. in fact being in Xavier's you are cushioned against the outside world. life is indeed pleasant and comfortable in Xavier's.

it is just plain sad the way it is... if you read the comments on Annie's blog you will see that almost every girl has been harrassed when she was 13yrs old or younger by old uncles/relatives- people your parents would normally trust... forget the roadside mawalis...

if you've seen monsoon wedding- uncle molesting child- such occurings are not a figment of the scriptwriter's imagination. it is true that every family get together, ever marriage, every festival becomes an opportunity for the pervert.

it is a fallacy for a man to think that a child does not understand/will not remember and hence can be exploited. the bloodiest part is that the shame of it keeps the girl silent. and tragic the way those memories just never go.

it is true that no girl can reply in the negative when asked if she has been treated like a 'free for all' commodity.

it was just disturbing. Annie's blog entry especially. :)

girls for you all, i recommend a sound training in martial arts(something i've been trying to do). and pepper spray is a must.

i am not really an aggressive feminist... this just demanded attention.

and if it stil grabs your attention- learn the difference between and stare and a leer here :) -

hey!!
i too really like guys thinking women are a better sex. i think its imperative because i really dont think that even the most 'fair minded' guy considers women equal(not subservient.. to avoid any mis understandings with chits post).
Its all okay thinking aboit girls in college and all.. but when it comes to sisters or mothers and wives for that matter things get mucked up.
And really sexual harrasment causing the girl shame .. is somehting i dont understand at all... is it feeling shameful because humans can behave this way??hehheheheheh .. i think people just dig every and any way possible to feel shameful.
Seriously ... girls feeling shameful because something a man has done is just one more consequence of them being subservient for sooooo long.
